Examination and assessment regulations
Pursuant to article 31 of the School’s Regulations the following scale of grading applies:
- very good /5,0/
- good plus /4,5/
- good /4,0/
- satisfactory plus /3,5/
- satisfactory /3,0/
- unsatisfactory /2,0/
Each course unit ends up with a credit: a pass or a pass with a grade or an examination. The criteria of assessment for classes and language labs are set by the lecturers who take into consideration the outcome of paper works, attendance and active participation, which is compulsory for classes and language labs. The number of times students can be excused for their absenteeism is determined by a given lecturer. Suitable guidelines can be found in the Dean’s Office.
Postgraduate studies
The courses are organised only for part-time students with bachelor or master titles. On the course completion students will receive postgraduate certificates pursuant to the Education Minister’s Act on Higher Education.
Mediations and Negotiations
The basic theoretical and practical skills developed throughout the course will prepare students to conduct negotiations, offer mediations and solve disputes or conflicts at their work places between employees and trade unions or in local communities. They will also be able to enter into political or trade negotiations and to go to court or political mediations.
Culture Manager
This specialisation is aimed at people who are interested in acquiring practical knowledge on culture law, management and most of all how to finance cultural events. Students enhanced in negotiations techniques, advertising campaign principles and drawing up sponsor agreements will be able to manage a cultural institution professionally and effectively.
Education Manager
The aim is to equip students with theoretical and practical knowledge and skills on modern library management. The classes will prepare student to manage economically the processes of collecting information and to develop or upgrade the existing.
Science Information, Electronic Information and Librarianship
This course is for those who are interested in both classical librarianship and modern informational and library systems, as well as in modern library management, techniques of searching and organising access to on-line sources. The acquired competences will enable prospective graduates to collect, verify and disseminate information professionally.
Building and Realisation of Reading and Media Routes
This course will enable students to get practical skills in building and realisation of reading and media routes in three-year gymnasia (lower secondary schools) or in post-gymnasia (upper secondary schools). This is to popularise modern teaching methods and also to develop further those already existing on the market but hardly ever used.
Information Management in Public Institutions
The aim of postgraduate studies in information management is to provide students with deeper insights into practical aspects of self-presentation, social psychology and communications. Students are equipped with practical and theoretical knowledge on information management in public institutions and in their own work places.
Legal Protection of Culture Heritage
Students will possess some knowledge on how to maintain or restore valuable items kept at museums and libraries but most of all how to manage or oversee professionally and effectively, as the administrative director of a museum collection or a library, the national, regional or local monuments of cultural heritage. They will be able to take such functions as managers or curators of institutions that are responsible for the protection of culture heritage.
Library Management
Modern library management is a key objective of this course, which will enable students to manage economically the processes of collecting information and to develop or upgrade the existing.
