International programmes
WSUS expresses its high hopes regarding the Socrates/Erasmus programme as we strongly believe this programme will stimulate international students exchange schemes at our School. This will enable our students to see how other similar foreign institutions work. This also will allow them to confront their knowledge and skills acquired at WSUS with those of their counterparts abroad; and for our academic personnel to share their knowledge and competences with other European academic teachers working at higher education institutions. This mutual cooperation is to set the same opportunities of education and development, as those which are offered to students from other European universities. The factor that will prompt the development of this inter-institutional cooperation is the fact that the Poznan School of Social Sciences has organised and held the first in Poland Rectors Convent of Higher Education Institutions.
Language courses
The Foreign Language Study Deparment has been operating since 2001. The main focus is on teaching English (with elements of Business English) and German as a second or foreign language (ESL/EFL). The courses are obligatory. Students, however, can take up optional courses in Spanish and Estonian. The Department employs teachers with international qualifications who run their classes on uniform programmes. They use modern teaching techniques and current (available on the market) course books.
Each year students that start their education in WSUS are required to sit a placement test. The test is a reliable and efficient means of grading and placing students into classes. The Foreign Language Study Department is open to the need of their students. It organizes courses for those who are interested in FCE or CAE certificates and is ready to extend its language programme with new foreign languages, should such a need arise. The classes are also open for persons who are not WSUS students but interested in developing their foreign language skills at an elementary, intermediate or advanced level.
Moreover, WSUS organises free of charge Estonian language classes, in which not only WSUS but also non-WSUS students can participate.
There are also Polish language classes for international students wishing to study at our School.
