Socrates/Erasmus

WSUS expresses its high hopes regarding the Socrates/Erasmus programme as we strongly believe this programme will stimulate international students exchange schemes at our School. This will enable our students to see how other similar foreign institutions work. This also will allow them to confront their knowledge and skills acquired at WSUS with those of their counterparts abroad; and for our academic personnel to share their knowledge and competences with other European academic teachers working at higher education institutions. This mutual cooperation is to set the same opportunities of education and development, as those which are offered to students from other European universities. The factor that will prompt the development of this inter-institutional cooperation is the fact that the Poznan School of Social Sciences has organised and held the first in Poland Rectors Convent of Higher Education Institutions.

We are about to accomplish the implementation of the ECTS credits system at our Faculty of Art.

Each student has its own tutor who guides him/her in their work and assignments.
6. There are also organised preparatory and refresher language courses adapted to the particular needs of an outgoing or incoming individual student.

Part THREE

For the two years now we have been actively participated in Leonardo da Vicnci mobility and placement projects.
Our particular case is an excellent cooperation with Institut Student und Arbeitsmarkt in Munich.
Last year two our students (of Journalism and Social Communications programme and of Management and Marketing programme) were successfully placed at previously negotiated and carefully selected host organizations ( selected according to the students’ particular interests and field of study).
Host Organisations in Munich: International Child Art Foundation e.V. and GWF - Gesellschaft fur Wirtschafts und Finanzberatung mbH
The same apples to the two students from Munich for whom the host organizations in Poland are: Telewizja Polska PTV3 and Kredyt Bank Poznan (one of the students is currently here in Poznan doing her placemat).
However, for the placement to take place successfully there is a long process of negotiations between the parties. The School also pays particular attention to the selection of candidate where language competences are prerequisites. The candidates are selected in an open process by competition, which is clearly defined and published on our webpage. Once the candidates are selected they are then instructed on how to report on their execution of placement. Students submit by e-mails their monthly reports on activities performed current stage of the program realisation.
At the end of the placements beneficiary is requested to fill in and submit all different sorts of questioners presented them by the Promoter.
The School fully recognises placement performed by students. Recognition is visible in a Diploma Supplement and is part of an assignment in a particular course.
Students- beneficiaries on placement completion receive work certificate, which they can use further in their career paths as part of their work experience.

ECTS-Credits - Management and Marketing

The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) was introduced in 1989, within the framework of Erasmus, now part of the Socrates programme. The system facilitates the transfer of credits, the recognition of periods of study abroad and at home universities thus enhances the quality and volume of student mobility in Europe.
Recently ECTS is developing into an accumulation system to be implemented at institutional, regional, national and European level. This is one of the key objectives of the Bologna Declaration of June 1999. The most important elements of the ECTS are: Information Packages like this one giving detailed descriptions of degree programmes and courses as a means of support for foreign students and their home universities during the phase of planning a study abroad period; The distribution of credit points (ECTS-Credits) for individual courses, based on the uniform European scale with 60 credits for the workload of a full-time student during one Academic Year (or 30 credits per semester).
